University of the Ryukyus Summer Online Intensive Study Program (OISP) AY2021-22

     

Under the auspices of the University’s Inter-University Exchange Project, this program provides students from the University with the opportunity to participate in an intensive study program with the aim of fostering global leadership to propel sustainable development for the Pacific island region.

This program will be conducted online in consideration of current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 which have resulted in the continuation of restrictions on international travel.

This program is centered upon the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), featuring a series of lectures and interaction with opportunities for collaborative learning on common issues faced by countries and territories in the Pacific island region.

The collaborative and interactive components of this program aim to encourage multicultural understanding, leverage knowledge on SDGs and nurture leadership. Part of this program will feature interaction with international students. As part of program participation, students must take part in pre-program training utilizing COIL that will familiarize participants on the main themes of interest in this program.

Eligibility　

First year to fourth year students at the University (full-time, no leave of absence)

Program Period　

Sep 1-17, 2021 （excluding Saturdays and Sundays)

Course Credits　

Those who successfully complete the whole program (including pre-and post-program components) will receive TWO credits for the University’s “Special Lectures on Inter-Disciplinary Sciences”. (These credits may be transferred upon review and approval of student performance.)

Program Requirements

Prior to the main program, participants are required to participate in pre-program sessions. All participants should familiarize themselves with program assignments and obligations before applying.
